  2. FROM an e-mail
A Russian student told me that Putin closed the National Forestry Service in 2007 and that he directly responsible for this disaster. He also said that the death rate in Moscow has almost doubled, and that there are thousands of deaths caused by the air pollution and not just the heat wave. He heaped scorn on the government there which he called a dictatorship.
